Mgarr Strawberry Festival
Every April, the Mgarr local council organises a Strawberry Festival known locally as "Il Festa Tal Frawli". Mgarr, which is an agricultural village that lies a few minutes drive above Golden Bay is renowned locally for its delicous strawberry produce and the festival celebrates the long tradition of the local farmers. The event largely takes place around the Mgarr village church square where there are numerous stalls offering products that have anything to do with strawberries, including liquers, wines, custards, jams, smoothies, milk shakes, pancakes, cakes, cosmetics and much more. Live musical folk performances entertain the numerous visitors and a number of other food and artisan stalls are also set up along the road towards the village square. Attendance to the event has over the years increased considerably with both locals and tourists attending this annual event, so getting there early is suggested to avoid traffic towards Mgarr. The event also coincides with the Mdina Medieval festival which is also accessible via the same driving route.
