The fastest and most convenient way to travel between Malta and Gozo is by Helicopter. The 20 seater helicopter flies between Luqa and Xewkija (Malta International Airport) operated by Malta Aircharter.

Buses -

Operates from- Valletta to all towns and back Most of Malta's towns and villages are connected by bus from Valletta in Malta or from Victoria in Gozo. Bus fares are between 7cents and 30cents. All buses leave from Valletta departing from the City Gate bus terminus and most trips vary from 15 to 45 minutes. Buses in Malta are currently painted yellow with a red stripe and the Gozitan buses are grey with a red stripe. Bus Route Map

Ferries

Operates from Cirkewwa and Mgarr: Ferries from Malta (Cirkewwa or Sa Maison) to Gozo (Mgarr). The shortest travel time (20 minutes) is from Cirkewwa, Maltas most northern point. Sa Maison is near to Valletta and trips take up to 75 minutes. These ferries are car and passenger ferries. Services are most frequent from the Cirkewwa harbour approximately every 30 minutes. In Summer there are passenger only services on hovermarines from Sa Maison in Malta to Mgarr in Gozo. Ferry Schedule

Taxis

There are 2 types of Taxis in Malta, the white Taxi and the black Taxi. Most common are the white taxis which- the black taxis. Most taxis do not cruise around much but will find them waiting at the airport and in most tourist towns and villages. Taxis are fitted with meters. You should ask the price in advance as meters are often switched off.

Driving is on the left hand side of the road and drivers seat on the right side of the car. Speed limits: There are no highways or motorways on Malta and GozoSpeed limits on country roads is 40mph (64kph) Speed limits in built up areas is 24mph (40kph) A seat belt must be worn at all times.

Driving License :Foreign visitors driving their own cars or locally hired or rented cars do not require to have their licenses endorsed. However , it is advisable to have your driving license with you. Minimum age to rent a car is 23yrs old

Petrol here are 3 types of types, namely Petrol Super grade, Unleaded Petrol and Diesel. Most new car types use Unleaded Petrol. Some service stations have "cash accepting machines for do -it yourself fill ups when stations are closed. Petrol Stations :Manned petrol stations opening hours are from 07:00 am to 6PM. On holidays and Sundays you may have to use the automatic cash accepting machines. Petrol stations in malta and Gozo do not accept credit cards and only LM2,LM5 with the silver thread.

Traffic accidents If you are involved in a traffic accident, call the police immediately and your car hire agent as well. You will have to wait on the spot and should not move the vehicle from the position they are in.
