Malta, Gozo and Comino have many beautiful beaches all around the coast of the islands. Apart from the popular beaches there are also a multitude of deserted coves and little beaches sometimes only accessible by sea. 

Although some of the beaches are small, some are rated as the most beautiful beaches in the Mediterranean. 

The swimming and sunbathing season starts in April when the weather becomes much warmer where temperatures can reach around 28oC to 35oC and gradually cools down until end October.

The most popular sandy beaches are the neighboring beaches of Ghajn Tuffieha and Golden Bay in Malta  , and Ramla beach  in Gozo.

All  are in a superb setting surrounded by superb , dramatic setting of flat -topped , golden and brown rocky cliffs and both have excellent stretches of fine sand.

Malta's sandy beaches are mainly to the north while the most suitable stretches of flat white rocks are along the western side of the island where the major resort areas are. The eastern coastline consists mainly of sheer cliffs, although it is possible to swim in a modest manner at iether wied iz-Zurrieq near Zurrieq or Ghar Lapsi near Siggiewi, both of which are popular with Scuba diving groups who explore the rugged coastline.

Both Malta and Gozo are small and it may appear as if  everywhere is within walking distance. It is not- and certainly never in the heat of the day. Although bus routes are simple to master, getting around by car is easier, espescially in reaching the beaches.

The Most Northerly village on Malta is Mellieha, a 10 minute car journey from the Gozo ferry Jetty at Cirkewwa, perched on a high ridge with its Parish Church on a spur, it has some good Restaurants and shops catering to both Residents of the village and the luxury estates as well as to visitors, many of whom self cater in nearby villas and apartments.

Beach activities range from simply lazing in the sun, to scuba diving, snorkeling , sailing , windsurfing, jet sking, water-skiing, beach volley, etc.!
