Snorkeling
is a sport for all ages and can be done on your own , with a partner or even as
a family. There is absolutely no age limit on snorkeling and many hours of
enjoyment can be held as long as you are in safe , protected waters.
Entering
the water for the first time wearing a mask can be quite daunting , but with the
correct teqniques you will quickly discover that snorkeling requires little
effort. Only the ability to swim is essential.
With
correct instruction you will quickly be able to enjoy sites like the splendid
Blue Lagoon on Comino or Santa Marija Caves. It is wise to check with the local
dive shop whether the area you are
planning to snorkel in is safe enough for you and your family

Malta, Gozo and Comino offer excellent Snorkeling locations around the islands. The coastlines are indented with the cleanest and bluest in the Mediterranean. In Summer it is remarkably refreshing and inviting. There are no real tides, no treacherous currents and no known dangerous fish. The Maltese themselves prefer swimming from the smooth rocks, as the number of sandy beaches are not plentiful , just 11 of them !
On the rocky beaches , children can safely play and swim. From these you can dive in where the waters are deep or simply starting out to enjoy the pleasures of underwater discovery with mask an flippers.
There are also beach establishments and lidos with cafes, beds and umbrellas, showers and the opportunity to water-ski, windsurf, jet ski and sail. The less energetic can rent a pedal o or canoe.
