It is also surrounded by fertile valleys and most spots provide good panoramas of the countryside, the Bay and Comino and Gozo. Recent developments, together with one of the best villa estates in Malta, have made the town popular with Maltese and visitors alike. It is one of Malta's most picturesque tourist destinations. Ghadira Beach or Mellieha Bay is just 2 Km away from the village and is Malta's largest beach. It is a long and narrow sandy beach with clean shallow water ideal for small children. There are also water sports facilities including skiing, jet bikes, paragliding, windsurfing, canoes, as well as number of beach bars.
