Where is Malta? The Maltese Islands lie in the
centre of the Mediterranean, Europe, 93KM south of Scicily and 300KM north
of Libya. The archipelago is made up of mainland Malta,
Gozo, Comino,
and cominotto. A smaller uninhabited island of Filfla is also part of the
Maltes Islands, which is about 5Kmoff the southern coast. All together the
islands make up a mere 316sq km. Malta is the largest island only 27KM at
its longest point from the northwest to southeast, and 14.5km at its widest
point, from west to east. |

How to get to Malta:
By plane to Malta
International Airport -
Flights
to Malta Worldwide. There are several connection possibilities to
Malta throughout Europe, including the Uk- London,Germany
Frankfurt, Italy- Rome, Spain Madrid, and France - Paris.
You may also come by train
or by car from Italy- Scicily , crossing over the straights to Sicily
and then from Syracuse to Valletta by sea. (An Interesting journey
seldom done) from the
island of Sicily which is 90 minutes away by Catamaran or a
20 minute flight. Air
Malta is the national airline and operates
flights from most mayjor cities
GOZO
ISLAND
Malta's
sister island is called Gozo (Ghawdex). The ferry to Gozo, Malta's
sister island, takes about 20 minutes and is free going. A helicopter
offers a great view of the Calypso Island. Among Gozo's beautiful sights
are the Citadel in capital city - Rabat (Victoria). Within
the Citadel you may visit the a number of interesting museum including
the Folklore Museum, a hodgepodge of interesting artefacts. The Azure Window,
a natural stone arch; and the prehistoric ruins of Megalithic Temples of
Ggantija and the Basilica of Ta' Pinu are the main attractions of this
unique island. Gozo is slower-paced and more rural than Malta and a
popular getaway for well-heeled visitors.
